How Heat-Resistant is EPDM Rubber, Really?
EPDM rubber is widely recognized for its excellent resistance to weather, ozone, UV rays, and some chemicals. However, when it comes to high-temperature resistance, it has its limits:

 Maximum heat resistance (short-term): Up to 160°C
 Recommended continuous operating temperature: Around 120°C
If EPDM rubber is used continuously near or above 160°C, it may degrade quickly, harden, crack, or lead to seal failure — potentially causing leaks, safety risks, or system inefficiencies.


Need to Seal at 200°C? These Alternatives Are Better
If your system or application involves continuous exposure to 200°C, EPDM rubber is not a suitable choice. Fortunately, there are better alternatives specifically designed to withstand high temperatures:

✅ QM-Grade Silicone Rubber – Withstands up to +270°C. Ideal for food, medical, and general industrial applications.
✅ QH-Grade Silicone Rubber – Tolerates temperatures up to +315°C, perfect for demanding, high-heat environments.
✅ Viton® (FKM) Rubber – Offers resistance up to +260°C and also excels in chemical resistance. However, it’s more expensive and requires special machinery to produce. Not all manufacturers offer custom Viton seals.
